What you will need
- My Book Showroom installed (the Endorsements metabox is visible to all tiers;
PRO is required for front-end display)
- At least one published
mbs_bookpost to edit - Endorsement text, attribution names, and any award details ready to enter
Step 1 — Locate the Endorsements metabox
Open any book in the book editor (My Book Showroom → Books → edit a book). Scroll down below the main Book Editor metabox. You will see the Endorsements metabox. If it is not visible, click Screen Options at the top of the editor page and make sure Endorsements is checked.
Step 2 — Add an endorsement row
Click the + Add Endorsement button. A new row appears with the following fields:
| Field | Description | |---|---| | Quote text | The endorsement text. Accepts multiple lines. | | Attributed to | The name of the person giving the endorsement. | | Title or publication | Their title, role, or outlet (e.g. "New York Times", "USA Today Bestselling Author"). | | Visible on front-end | Checkbox. When checked, the endorsement renders on the public book page. |
Fill in all four fields. Leave Visible on front-end unchecked if you want to save the endorsement without publishing it yet — for example, when a blurb is pending final approval.
Keep quote text to 1–3 sentences for best display. Longer endorsements may be truncated in some layout contexts. If the full quote matters, use the attribution line to credit the source and let the shortened quote carry the impact.
Step 3 — Add additional endorsement rows
Click + Add Endorsement again for each additional endorsement. There is no fixed limit on the number of rows. The order of rows in the metabox determines the display order on the front end — drag rows to reorder them.
Step 4 — Remove an endorsement row
To delete an endorsement, click the Remove link on the right side of that row. The row is removed immediately from the editor. Click Update to save the change.
Removing an endorsement row permanently deletes it from the database when you save. If you want to keep the text but stop displaying it, uncheck Visible on front-end instead of removing the row.
Step 5 — Add awards and accolades
In the Awards section of the Endorsements metabox, click + Add Award to add a row. Each award row contains:
- Award name — for example, "RITA Award Finalist" or "Lambda Literary Award"
- Year — the year the award was received or announced
- Category — the specific category or sub-award (optional)
For bestseller recognition, use the Bestseller Badge text field to enter a short badge label such as "USA Today Bestseller" or "NY Times Bestselling Series". This text renders as a prominent badge chip on the front-end book card and book page.
Step 6 — Save and verify front-end display
Click Update to save the book. Open the front-end book page. With PRO active, you will see:
- Endorsements section — a styled quote block below the blurb. Only rows
with Visible on front-end checked are rendered.
- Awards — displayed as badge chips, typically above or alongside the
endorsement section.
- Bestseller badge — rendered prominently on both the book card in the
showroom grid and the full book page.
Without PRO, the metabox is still editable and all data is saved — but nothing is rendered on the front end until PRO is activated.
If you are launching a book before reviews are in, add endorsements from beta readers with Visible on front-end unchecked. When a major-outlet review arrives, check the box and move that row to the top — one save and it goes live immediately.
Step 7 — Draft hidden endorsements for future use
Any endorsement row with Visible on front-end unchecked is saved in the database but not rendered. Use this to draft upcoming testimonials, store private editorial notes alongside a book, or queue endorsements that are under embargo until a release date.
